Rooted in the Word of God
The ministry of God's Word is central to our building up the saints for the work of service. The Bible is our standard and the source for all our doctrine.
The ministry of God's Word is central to our building up the saints for the work of service. The Bible is our standard and the source for all our doctrine.
Our purpose is to serve Christ by ministering to one another and the world. Service to Christ flows out of a love for God and our neighbor.
We seek to be communities of hope in a despairing world because Christ, the Light of the world, has called us to be a light in a dark place.
Christian Worship is more than a matter of style or preference. True worship is to be offered in a manner that pleases God.
It is our calling to proclaim the unsearchable riches of Christ. Only a gospel that exalts the sovereign work of God can save sinners.
We are passionate about being Reformed in a church environment that focused on pleasing man. The glory of God is our chief aim.
| Introduction to Doctrine |
|
The RCUS does not follow unwritten traditions. It has an objective body of doctrinal statments of faith or standards which define and limit what we teach. We are committed to the historic Christian Creeds and the Confessions of the Reformation. Specifically we are committed to the Three Forms of Unity: the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Canons of Dort. Our "Positions Papers" set forth the views of our denomination on contemporary issues and the prevailing errors of our time. Unlike some in our post-modern age, we take seriously the command to "earnestly contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints" (Jude 3). As pastors and elders our duty is not only to exhort in sound doctrine but to convict or refute those who contradict. "For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain." --Titus 1:10-11 |
